Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has expanded its robotic surgery program with the arrival of a second surgical robot, strengthening its role as a national leader in advanced surgical care.  

Thanks to the generosity of community donors, KHSC can now nearly double the number of robotic-assisted surgeries performed each year, improving access for patients across southeastern Ontario. 

In light of the Canada Post strike, UHKF knows that many donors will want to continue to give generously in support of patients and programs at Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care, so the following methods are available for continued support.

The YGK tournament has raised $55,000 in support of the KHSC program that helps veterans, military personnel and first responders living with chronic pain and PTS(D).

Two years ago, Corey Dunn was lying in a hospital bed not knowing if he would ever walk again. 

Today, Corey is transforming his recovery into a journey of gratitude. He is walking 570 kilometres—10 kilometres for each of the 57 days he spent in hospital—to raise funds for Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) Neurosurgery Department.

Twelve years ago, Megan Wheatley’s life changed in an instant. A car accident and serious brain injury left her facing an uncertain future with a long road of recovery ahead. 

But on August 17 this year, the 30-year-old stood at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro—the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres—after an eight-day trek that tested her strength, endurance and resilience.

Golfers and supporters gathered for the fifth annual Power of Hope Golf Tournament on August 25 and raised an incredible $176,530 in support of prostate cancer care at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC). 

This brings the tournament’s five-year total to more than $740,000, with the money supporting KHSC’s surgical robotics program which provides cutting edge, minimally invasive procedures using small incisions (compared to traditional surgery) which lead to shorter hospital stays, faster recovery and a quicker return to normal activities.

Breast cancer screening, imaging, and care across southeastern Ontario is getting a major boost with the appointment of Dr. Doris Jabs as the Rose of Hope Clinical Chair in Breast Health at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC).

The announcement comes just weeks after the 27th annual Rose of Hope Golf Tournament raised an incredible $285,000 — the first installment of the tournament committee’s five-year, $1 million pledge to establish this new leadership role.

The Carman family is turning a devastating loss into something positive and hopeful. 

In 2021, Declyn Carman was born with atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD), a congenital heart defect where there are holes between the heart's chambers and the valves don't form correctly. 

Declyn was a joyful baby who defied odds from the beginning. Despite many medical appointments and hospital stays, the family was optimistic Declyn would recover. Surgery was scheduled to repair the holes in his heart.
