Honour Your Caregiver

Recognize Their Impact

Often, patients and their families are touched by the care and dedication of health care professionals, volunteers, office staff or any other employee, team or department at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Providence Care or our community programs. They often ask, “What can I do to say ‘Thank You’?”

A gift through the Honour Your Caregiver Program is a wonderful way to say “Thank You” and provide much needed funding for equipment, education, research, facilities and more. All recipients receive a certificate to be displayed in their office or waiting room.

“Working in healthcare, especially in a critical care setting like the Emergency Department, can be taxing on our bodies and minds as we help patients through traumatic events over and over every day. Our days are full of challenges and difficult conversations. Recognition of the work we do reminds us of why we chose to do the work that we do and gives us a boost to continue providing the best care possible. Thank you not only for helping us provide the best care possible, but also for reminding us that even though we might not always see it, the work we do often does have a positive impact even when we don't realize it. Helping people heal through their worst days, or provide comfort where we can, is part of why many of us chose to do the work that we do.”

“Our beloved Mother suffered a thromboembolic stroke. We were impressed by the organization of the multidisciplinary team that supported saving her from a potentially devastating acute event. The compassionate support demonstrated to our mom and her families in Kingston and Ottawa was exemplary. We are also grateful for every effort made to support us all through the difficulties leading to her passing. We will never forget everyone's kindness.”

“We wanted to recognize several caregivers who made a true difference to us while my husband was in the hospital and throughout his palliative care. Davies 4 ICU were exceptional and so caring and understanding as we navigated some very tough decisions as a family. These individuals are outstanding at what they do, and we wanted to show them our sincere thanks.”

“I am incredibly grateful to the entire team that supported me through the Seniors Day Program at Providence Care Hospital. All I can say is that I came out of the program far better than when I came in!"
