This award honours Ian Wilson, a former hospital board Chair and Chair of the UHKF 'Together We Can' campaign for Kingston's health-care facilities and tireless volunteer with a wide range of community and health-related organizations.
The award is granted annually to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer efforts in the solicitation of donations benefitting Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care through an event, organized campaign or informal activity.
Any volunteer, hospital staff member, hospital board or committee member, or third-party event organizer may be nominated. Nominations will be accepted from anyone within the hospital community.
2024 Award Recipient: Evelyn Maizen
Evelyn Maizen is a shining example of an outstanding volunteer fundraiser. She has been an engaged Board member, chair and successful Campaign Team member since 2017, and she is a motivated community member who allows everyone the opportunity to support UHKF. In addition to all of this, she leads by example with her own philanthropy both in terms of major gifts and planned gifts. She brings new and fresh fundraising ideas to the table, always looking for ways to keep the conversation for supporting the hospital open.
Through her own gifts and gifts that she has inspired, she has helped to facilitate in excess of $1 million in government funding for hospital redevelopment. As a volunteer, she has raised more than $150,000 in major gifts and identified many planned giving opportunities.
Whether Evelyn is decorating cookies at a Smile Cookie Day event, hosting a hospital redevelopment education session at her home, or working to strengthen UHKF’s face-to-face fundraising efforts, her uplifting presence, and willingness to participate across the organization at all levels, boosts the morale of staff and volunteers alike. As a Board member she sets fundraising goals for herself and is utterly fearless when it comes to inviting others to do likewise.
