UHKF Donors Make Giving Tuesday Campaign a Success

When a community comes together with a shared purpose, the impact can be felt far beyond a single day. That spirit was on full display during the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation’s (UHKF) 2025 Giving Tuesday campaign, which not only met its fundraising goal but surpassed it—delivering meaningful support for patients and care teams.

Held on December 2, 2025, Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to generosity and giving back, encouraging people to support causes close to home.

For UHKF, the goal was to raise $10,000 for Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) programs at Providence Care and Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC). Community support for this goal was evident with many donors making gifts in support of the cause until the end of the year.

Together, donors contributed just over $16,000!

“Giving Tuesday is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together,” said UHKF CEO Tom Zsolnay. “Thanks to the generosity of donors, KHSC and Providence Care are able to invest in better care and advanced technology that supports patients and families when they need it most. I give my heartfelt thanks to every donor who helped make this Giving Tuesday campaign such a success.”

POCUS machines are an important tool for health-care professionals because they allow physicians to perform imaging at the patient’s bedside.

”We can look inside the body safely, quickly and accurately—right at the bedside—without waiting for scans or moving fragile patients. What once took days of tests can now happen in moments,” says Dr. Steven Montague, a KHSC doctor who encouraged people to support the Giving Tuesday campaign.  It is widely used in emergency, critical care and internal medicine, making it an essential tool for modern health care.

Funds raised through the campaign will help expand access to POCUS machines at health-care sites, ensuring clinicians have the tools they need to deliver timely, high-quality care when it matters most.
