Since the onset of COVID-19, The Beer Store has been running a fundraising campaign in its stores to raise funds for local hospitals across Ontario. Kingstonians rallied together to support this initiative and raised an outstanding $23,053.60 to support Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC).

Through this campaign, The Beer Store customers donated part or all of their empty returns to benefit their local hospital foundation. Customers were also asked at the till if they would like to donate a monetary gift. The Beer Store raised more than $2.3 million for local hospitals across the province!

“The Beer Store saw an overwhelming response to the campaign in the Kingston community as well as across the province,” says Robin Urie, District Manager, The Beer Store. “We are proud that these funds will support our local hospitals. We are also very thankful to all those in Kingston that helped support this initiative. It was only possible through our dedicated employees and loyal customers who stepped up to give back to their community.”

“We are very fortunate to have thoughtful, compassionate leaders like the owners and managers of The Beer Store in our community,” says Wayne Owens, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) Board Chair. “We have seen an outpour of support for our healthcare heroes, patients and hospitals during this pandemic. This donation is another example of our community coming together to support each other in times of need. On behalf of the UHKF Board of Directors and the staff of UHKF and KHSC, I would like to thank every customer and staff member for their role in making this campaign a success.”
