Collectively, Kingston Health Sciences Centre including Hotel Dieu and Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care are Kingston's university hospitals, providing highly specialized care to more than 500,000 people throughout our region and beyond, leading pioneering research and training the health care professionals of tomorrow.
What we do:
- KHSC – Hotel Dieu Hospital site is the ambulatory care (outpatient) centre, recording more than 500,000 specialized clinic visits, day surgeries and other procedures each year.
- KHSC – Kingston General Hospital site serves the needs of our most acutely ill patients – those who need highly-specialized emergency, surgical or medical care, including those with cancer. They serve over 60,000 people in their emergency department each year, perform thousands of surgical procedures annually, and see more than 180,000 ambulatory and outpatient visits at the cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario site each year.
- Providence Care serves patients with complex, rehabilitation, geriatric and mental healthcare needs at two sites – Providence Care Hospital and Providence Manor, in addition to 22 community sites. In 2017, Providence Care provided hospital care to over 1,200 inpatients and 25,000 outpatients. Their 22 community programs across the region had over 87,000 visits and their long term care home, Providence Manor, provided care for 243 residents.
