The 18th annual LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart campaign ran from October 5 to November 1, 2019. The fall campaign raised more than $20,000, and represents the third installment on a five-year pledge of $125,000 directed towards the redevelopment of the Labour and Delivery Suites at Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s (KHSC) Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site.

Since 2006, the local LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart campaign proceeds have been directed to women’s health initiatives at KHSC.  More than $227,000 has been donated to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) to purchase equipment related to women’s health such as a liposuction machine to assist with breast reconstruction surgery, a specialized scope to detect signs of disease and a video monitor for the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario outpatient clinic. It has also supported research initiatives.

“The response to this campaign is always positive, year after year,” says Adam Doyle, Owner and Pharmacist, Shoppers Drug Mart. “The funds raised in our community, stay in our community and provides direct support for local women's health services. We are grateful for our community’s support.”

“KHSC is the regional centre for medical genetics, high-risk obstetrics, and specialized gynecology and gynecology oncology services,” says Marcia McFarlane, Program Manager, Women and Children’s Programs, KHSC. “We are grateful for the generosity of Shoppers Drug Mart customers and employees for helping us offer the very best care to women across southeastern Ontario.”

“Our vision is that our hospitals will be able to offer women the best treatment options available today. This means delivering the most innovative care with the most up-to-date equipment, close to home,” says Liz Wilson, Chair, UHKF Board of Directors. “It is community support, and Shoppers Drug Mart staff and owners that make this vision possible.”
