Shoppers Drug Mart, Kingston locations, hosted a one-day Beauty Gala event in the fall of 2018. This event is part of the SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. corporate giving program. This year, the Gala raised more than $24,000 which will be directed towards the redevelopment of the labour and delivery at Kingston Health Sciences (KHSC)’s Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site.

Beauty Gala attendees had to the opportunity to receive a personalized skin consultation and makeover. The event also had raffles, prizes and gifts.

Since 2006, Shoppers Drug Mart, locally, has directed the proceeds from their SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU.  program to women’s health initiatives at KHSC. Nearly $191,000 has been donated to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) to purchase equipment related to women’s health such as a liposuction machine to assist in preparing the surgical site for Breast Reconstruction Surgery after the initial cancer surgery is complete, a specialized scope to detect signs of disease, and video monitor for the Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario outpatient clinic.  They also support the research initiatives of UHKF’s Women’s Giving Circle.

“As the regional centre for medical genetics, high-risk obstetrics, and specialized gynecology and gynecology oncology services, KHSC is grateful for the generosity of Shoppers Drug Mart customers for helping us offer the very best care to women across southeastern Ontario,” says Marcia McFarlane, Program Manager, Women and Children’s Programs, KHSC.

“The new patient tower at KHSC will bring the entire Women & Children’s Health Program together onto one floor.” says Karen Humphreys Blake, Acting President and CEO, UHKF, “This next stage of healthcare redevelopment in Kingston will centralize the expertise of a variety of care providers that will benefit the women and children from across our region in their care.”
