Since 2013, Kingston’s Farm Boy location has been helping the region’s children live better, healthier lives by supporting healthcare locally through the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF). This year, proceeds of $6,171 will go to Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s (KHSC) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Kingston General Hospital site and KidsInclusive—formerly known as the Child Development Centre—at KHSC’s Hotel Dieu Hospital site.

Funds were raised from Kingston Farm Boy location’s twice annual special events: the Charity Coupon book and the Charity Cookie Sale. “Ensuring the health and wellbeing of children is one of the most important things we can do as a community,” says David Jeffery, Manager, Farm Boy Kingston. “We are proud to support our hospitals but we really couldn’t do it without the generosity of our customers.”

Since the store opened in 2013, the Kingston Farm Boy has raised a total of $34,056 to benefit children and families locally. “We are so thankful for the support we have received from Farm Boy,” says Kerri-Lee Bisonette, Program Manager of Pediatrics/NICU at KHSC. “Donations like the one announced today ensure we have important equipment at our fingertips, allowing us to continually provide high-quality care for our smallest patients.”

KHSC’s NICU is the only high-risk obstetrical centre for southeastern Ontario. KidsInclusive provides rehabilitation and support services for children and youth with physical, neurological and/or developmental challenges across the region.

“Thank you to Farm Boy from all of us at UHKF, and the hundreds of children and families that will benefit from your support.” – Karen Humphreys Blake, Acting President and CEO, UHKF.
