After a year of waiting, the freshly baked chocolate chunk cookie with blue eyes and a pink smile, Tim Hortons Smile Cookie, is back from September 13 to 19.

Kingston restaurant owners will donate the full $1 from every Smile Cookie purchased to support Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s (KHSC) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Pat and Abigail Kerr’s daughter, Hannah, was born on February 25, 2021, at only 27 weeks, weighing 1lb. 12oz., due to complications of HELLP syndrome.

“Hannah, now 6-months-old, has come a long way from the 790g she started at,” says Pat Kerr, Grateful NICU Dad. “It wouldn’t have been possible without the NICU at KHSC. We are forever in their debt. Our family will be buying a dozen Smile Cookies next week!”

Thanks to the incredible commitment of local Tim Hortons staff and enthusiastic community support, the 2020 Smile Cookie campaign raised a record $150,000 for the NICU bringing the total Smile Cookie donations to KHSC to $1 million!

“We are so excited about this year’s Smile Cookie Campaign,” says Sherri Agnew, Tim Hortons Restaurant owner. “Every year, the Kingston community surprises us with their appetite for Smile Cookies! Can we beat the record for the most cookies sold this year? I can’t wait to see Kingston try. We are ready, and our restaurant teams can’t wait to make and sell as many Smile Cookies as possible. Our tiniest patients thank you!”

“We are looking forward to working with our local Tim Hortons partners once again,” says Wayne Owens, Board Chair, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF). “We are aiming for another record-breaking year. The UHKF volunteers are getting ready to help promote Smile Cookies at Tim Hortons restaurants across Kingston on the morning of Monday, September 13. Buy a smile cookie and say ‘hi’ to a volunteer!”
