The Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s (KHSC) Board of Directors and the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) celebrated a gift of $25,000 from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 115.

The IBEW Local 115 serves more than 600 members in the Quinte/St. Lawrence region.  In May of 2016, they celebrated 90 years of involvement in the labour community. Since their first donation to UHKF in 1999, IBEW have provided more than $51,000 in support of health care in our region.

”KHSC is our region’s largest complex-acute and specialty care academic hospital. During an unprecedented era of rapid change in health care, KHSC has continued to serve our community and region,” says Dr. David Pichora. “This gift will allow KHSC to continue to serve our community with excellence and innovation.”

“Community support is very important to the members of Local 115. In the past, we have helped support the purchase of new beds for the KGH Emergency Department,” says Bill Pearse, Business Manager, IBEW. “We are thrilled to make this gift.”

“We are grateful for the ongoing support from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 115,” says Nicole Pierce, Director, Leadership Philanthropy, UHKF. “This is a great example of our community coming together to support a bold, new vision for health care in southeastern Ontario.”
