The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation’s (UHKF) 2025 Holiday Campaign was a resounding success, as just over $775,000 was raised by nearly 3,300 donors.

“We are incredibly grateful to every donor who chose to support local health care during the holiday season,” said Tom Zsolnay, UHKF President & CEO. “Philanthropic support fuels essential treatments, innovative technology, and compassionate care for patients and families right here in our community.”

UHKF Marketing and Communications Director, Jeff Doner says the campaign is a powerful reminder that it’s not just large gifts that drive change.

“Every donation adds up when a community comes together. Behind the scenes, our Foundation team worked hand in hand with our hospital partners to make this possible, and that spirit of collaboration is what truly fueled this success,” says Jeff. “When we all pitch in, extraordinary things happen for local care.”

Central to the campaign’s success was the Double Your Donation Matching Gift Challenge, a flagship initiative powered by a group of generous Angel Donors. From November 3 to December 31, 2025, every dollar contributed online was matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000 thanks to these philanthropic leaders. This program not only amplified individual gifts but also energized wider community participation throughout the campaign period.

Adrian, one of the Angel Donors who requested not to use his last name, explained how health-care experiences shaped his decision to back the campaign.

“Health care touches everybody. It affected me and my father. I’m just glad to be in a position to do something about it and help others,” says Adrian.

Funds from the campaign — both matched and standalone gifts — will support Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), Providence Care, and related health-care services. The donations help address evolving community health needs, from advanced clinical equipment and technology to innovative programs that enhance patient outcomes.

Gary Burggraf, who, alongside his wife Marjorie, participated as an Angel Donor, shared the couple’s motivation:

“We became Angel Donors to encourage others to give knowing their contribution dollars would be doubled. We support our health sciences institutions because they give so much to people in the Kingston region.”

Working alongside donors, UHKF channels philanthropic support into meaningful impact to ensure health care remains compassionate, innovative and close to home.
