On July 28th, the lush fairways of Cataraqui Golf and Country Club will once again come alive with purpose, passion and pink as the 28th Annual Rose of Hope Golf Tournament swings into action.
After raising more than $3.5 million over its storied history for Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC)—including an incredible $1 million in just three years to fund a new breast-dedicated MRI machine for Breast Imaging Kingston—this year’s tournament is sure to make an incredible impact on regional breast health!
Goal: Support the continual funding of the inaugural Rose of Hope Clinical Chair in Breast Health at KHSC. This will be the second year of the group's five-year $1 million fundraising goal.
More than a piece of equipment, the Clinical Chair held by Dr. Doris Jabs is a visionary role that will elevate every aspect of breast cancer care in southeastern Ontario.
Dr. Jabs is a highly respected fellowship trained Women’s Imaging radiologist with more than two decades of experience, including long-time holding of the Regional Breast Imaging Lead for the Ontario Breast Screening Program and is one of the driving forces behind the creation of KHSC’s Breast Imaging Kingston (BIK), a state-of-the-art, patient-focused breast cancer screening and diagnostic facility.
“This role is about building a stronger, more connected breast health system,” says Dr. Jabs. “From faster screening to better navigation and follow-up, we want patients to feel supported every step of the way. Thanks to the generosity of the Rose of Hope and our community, we now have the ability to make that happen.”
Unlike funding for a single piece of equipment, a Clinical Chair position provides the time, resources and authority for a physician leader to drive innovation in care, research and education. The role will focus on reducing wait-times, streamlining care, expanding outreach to underserved communities, and fostering collaboration between health care providers across the region.
Help support transformational care for women!
Now is the time to act. The support of Kingston’s community and local businesses is essential to this goal.
