It’s the most wonderful time of the year…the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign is returning to support the tiniest patients at Kingston General Hospital!

From Monday September 11 to Sunday September 17, many Tim Hortons restaurant locations in Kingston are generously donating all proceeds from the sales of the smiling chocolate chunk cookie to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation. The funds will be used to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at KGH.

The sales of the $1 treat helps charities, hospitals and community programs across Canada in the cities where they are sold. Over the past four years, local Tim Hortons have donated over $280,000 to the NICU at KGH. Nationally, Tim Hortons restaurant owners support more than 350 local charities through the annual Smile Cookie fundraiser.

“Donations like this allow us look after some very unwell babies,” explained Dr. Bob Connelly, medical director of pediatrics. “Our NICU is one of just a few across the province that have the ability to look after some very sick babies, this often includes babies born prematurely or with significant defects that require surgery. They need a variety of different equipment from incubators to keep them warm to special ventilators or monitors.”
